SOLACE GARDEN
_Solace = ... source of relief and comfort ..._
Solace Garden is an urban farming system intended to promote sustainable development within the objectives environmental, social and economical. The brief we were given was to design a product for urban spaces.
It's supposed to be placed in green areas in bigger cities.
One of the key characteristics with Solace Garden is the shadow play created by the wooden pillars.

THE CONCEPT
Solace Garden is a mini-architecture structure consisting of wooden pillars in FSC certified cedar wood with irregular shelves placed on a base made of recycled concrete. A variety of vegetables and herbs, depending on season, are grown in the shelves.
The benefits of urban farming systems are many. Including biodiversity, cleaner air, a new meeting place for people, an understanding for nature, organic fruits and vegetables and if sold, it can foster the local economy.
